Social Inters and Opens program

Pine Hills Netball Club acknowledges the importance of:

  • Maintaining competitive opportunities for players and pathways for representative-level players.
  • Providing flexible and social playing options to keep older players (16+) engaged in netball.
  • Supporting player wellbeing by offering sport as a social and stress-relieving outlet.
  • Aligning the Inters and Opens age groups more closely to create a clearer pathway into adult netball.

The Pine Hills Netball Club committee has approved a pilot program for 2026 that will provide enhancements to our current Opens and Inters playing opportunities. The focus for 2026 will be to continue to provide the opportunity for players to participate in competitive netball while also offering a social option for players who may want to play with friends or have the option to not attend weekly training sessions. In addition, Opens players will have the opportunity to "bring their own team".

But don't worry, competitive netball is still at the heart of what we do! We will be offering several competitive teams in Inters and Opens divisions, so there will be a team for everyone!

We welcome all enquiries about the program from existing and new players. If you would like to discuss further, please contact Kristy at coach@pinehillsnetball.club

2026 Pilot program overview

During the 2026 DPNA Winter Season, the club will offer both competitive and social pathways for Inters and Opens players.

Registration options

  • Players nominate to play competitively or socially during registration. For players wishing to play socially, complete the registration process as per normal, then send an email to coach@pinehillsnetball.club to advise that you are nominating to play socially, and provide the names of any friends that you would like to play with.
  • Players wishing to trial for the top Inters or Opens team must nominate as competitive.
  • Social players may request to play with particular friends when they register and are encouraged to invite friends to join the club.
  • Opens players may self-nominate a full team, provided:

Teams have at least 9 players.

Teams supply their own coach and manager.

A full team list, coach details, and proposed DPNA division are emailed to coach@pinehillsnetball.club  after registration.

The club retains final approval of team division placement following grading.

    Grading and team selection

    • An Inters and Opens Information and Grading night will be held on Wednesday 18 February 2026, with a second session on Wednesday 25 February 2026 (if required).
    • This will replace Saturday grading for Inters players.
    • Attendance is encouraged for all players to assist with:

Communication of important information for the season.

Fair team placements based on ability.

      Ensuring balanced teams by positions.

To assist with DPNA division grading.

      • Competitive teams will be selected by the grading panel using the club's usual grading process.
      • Social teams (other than Opens self-nominating teams) will be selected by the grading panel using a combination of friendship requests and general ability to maintain balanced competition.

    Training

    • Opens squad: Wednesday evenings at Rosemarie Klingberg Courts, James Drysdale Reserve, Bunya.
    • Inters Squad: Monday evenings at Rosemarie Klingberg Courts, James Drysdale Reserve, Bunya.
